The soldier fly fauna semideciduous forests, which cover major countryside state São Paulo, poorly known compared to best-known areas Atlantic Forest stratiomyids, such as ombrophilous forests on southeast coast. With constant habitat fragmentation remnants crops and pastures cattle, are losing valuable data about biodiversity. This study details stratiomyids Neotropical Region, using standardized collecting methodology with Malaise traps, from May 2010 December 2011. Here, provide list 41 stratiomyid 25 genera eight subfamilies total 1,533 specimens collected Reserva Biológica e Ecológica Augusto Ruschi, Sertãozinho, Brazil. current species/morphospecies reported Paulo raised 113, Merosargus golbachi James, 1971 James McFadden, M. tripartitus first time Our analyses estimate even higher studied area, probably between 48 114 indicating that further collection efforts needed.
